The Spanish-speaking community is the fastest-growing ethnic group in the USA. Of the approximately 45-million Hispanics living in the USA, it is estimated that 10% speak only Spanish. As a result, park officials have seen a steady increase of monolingual visitors and their families seeking to enjoy the great outdoors. Now more than ever before, park rangers, wildlife officers and campground/recreation staff need to be able to communicate rules and restrictions to assure the safety of all involved.
This interactive, online audio-visual course features over 1500 words and phrases, plus special Alert Words, specific to public safety and emergency situations when interacting with monolingual, Spanish-speaking visitors. From to explaining park rules and regulations, to terms for fishing, hunting, wildlife and weather conditions, to handling emergencies, Spanish for Park Rangers provides easy-to-learn communication tools when out in the field.
